Coming home from the Vietnam War without a leg did not stop this beautiful man from serving his community. In partnership with other men in the Gowanus Houses, Mr. Smith started the Stoners. This Boy Scout troop with their own neighborhood flavor helped many young men know and see the strength they had within them. Bringing major building improvements as Tenant Association president, and jobs as the founder and leader of a young entrepreneurs program are a few more of the many reasons this dear man is a community hero.
