CURRENTLY ORGANIZING IN FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN – GET INVOLVED!

Fort Greene

Laura Bruno

From helping families secure housing resources to mentoring youth in her building, Laura Bruno plays a vital leadership role in the Fort Greene community. As the Vice President of the Ingersoll Resident Association, she dedicates her time to strengthening and uplifting her neighbors. She also believes in the importance of uplifting children in the community.

Living in Ingersoll herself, Ms. Bruno understands the community’s challenges and she steps up every day to find solutions. She organizes tenant meetings where residents can voice concerns & helps connect families with city services and supports community-wide initiatives like: food drives, youth programs, and holiday events. All of her neighbors know that if something needs to get done, Ms. Bruno is the one to call.

Laura Bruno’s impact on Fort Greene goes far beyond logistics. Ms. Bruno is a steady presence for young people in the community and she encourages them to stay in school, to seek out opportunities, and to avoid negative influences. She has helped organize career workshops and educational support for teens who are likely overlooked. Ms. Bruno’s unique ability to connect to people across generations makes her a trusted figure in the neighborhood.

For Ms. Bruno, leadership means being both visible in the community and accessible to everyone. Whether she’s helping a senior fill out a housing form or helping a young person in a tough situation, her mission is always the same: to create a stronger, safer, and more united Fort Greene. Her work is a reminder that real change starts at home and with someone who cares.
